Let us rather blame ourselves ..” (pg 1249) | Rebecca is trying to convince them that they should pray and rely on God to help everyone against the witchcraft. Trying to look/ seek information about what is really going on is extremely dangerous for all. Witchcraft is obviously not something to mess with. I believe Rebecca is right, the people being targeted are being punished for their sins they have committed. |

I think this is an excellent quote. Rebecca seems to be the voice of reason so early on in the play. She states it simply, these children are just being silly and everyone is getting too worked up about it.
ReplyDeleteUnfortunately, Rebecca's wisdom in this matter later works against her, and as we have now seen at the end of Act II, she too becomes one of the accused.
