Rebecca:”If so he is, then let us go to God for the cause of it. There is prodigious danger in the seeking of loose spirits. I fear it, I fear it. Let us rather blame ourselves ..”                           (pg 1249)

Rebecca is trying to convince them that they should pray and rely on God to help everyone against the witchcraft. Trying to look/ seek information about what is really going on is extremely dangerous for all. Witchcraft is obviously not something to mess with. I believe Rebecca is right, the people being targeted are being punished for their sins they have committed.
